Patch 1.0.1 is not a tiny “fixed two typos” update. It repairs several things that can make you think your build, controller or progression is broken when the actual problem is the launch client.

If you installed Shadow Dungeon on release day, this is the patch to check before troubleshooting anything weird.

The fixes that matter most to normal players

XP not obtainable

The patch fixed experience not being obtainable.

If your level bar was completely stuck, do not rebuild your character around some imagined XP penalty. Update.

Controllers not recognized

The patch fixed controllers not being recognized and separately fixed frame drops while playing with a controller.

That is why our controller guide starts with version number, not with twenty Windows settings.

Fairy auto salvage

Treasure Sprite/fairy auto salvage was fixed, and fairy movement speed was increased.

If the fairy followed you but seemed to forget its job, that was a real launch issue.

Respec cleanup

The patch fixed pinnacle talents not clearing correctly after respec.

That matters if you used a Forgetfulness Potion and the talent state looked haunted afterward.

Full practical list

Patch 1.0.1 includes:

  • more screen resolutions
  • controller frame-drop fix
  • controller recognition fix
  • transformation skills accepting points correctly
  • XP obtainable fix
  • increased fairy movement speed
  • monster element types displaying correctly
  • health UI values displaying correctly
  • fairy auto salvage fix
  • pinnacle talent cleanup after respec
  • one-click backpack sorting hotkey fix

Why the health and element display fixes matter for guides

A guide can tell you to build resistance or read enemy elements all day. That advice is useless if the UI literally is not showing the value/type correctly.

So when comparing launch-day screenshots or videos, remember that some UI oddities may be pre-1.0.1 bugs rather than current behavior.

Why old troubleshooting posts can mislead you already

This game is moving fast enough that a Steam post from a few hours earlier can describe a problem that is already patched.

Our rule for launch week:

  1. Check the current client version.
  2. Check official patch notes.
  3. Only then use player workarounds.

That order saves a lot of wasted time.

Did 1.0.1 change Greater Rifts or the level cap?

Not in the published note.

The official 1.0 structure remains level 100 → Paragon, story completion → Greater Rifts. Patch 1.0.1 is mostly launch bug fixing and usability cleanup.
